The coronavirus outbreak has dramatically shaken the prospects of the Russians who planned to go on holidays outside Russia. The borders are closed. Self-isolation regulations are imposed on most cities. Other countries are facing the coronavirus pandemic, too.
The Russian authorities are introducing a number of restrictive measures in order to curtail the epidemic. In addition, actions to support the residents are taken. For instance, one of the issues considered recently concerned those who had been planning to fly to other countries and had paid for these trips to travel agencies.
According to the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers, people will get the refunds on the trips cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. As planned, the money for this purpose will be taken from the tour operators’ funds of personal responsibility.
Reports say the money will be paid back to those who hoped to go on vacation during the period from the beginning of the restrictions until June 1, 2020. The funds will be reimbursed on the basis of a notice given no later than April 15 to the association of tour operators working in the sector of outbound tourist trips. The notifications should be sent by tour operator themselves.
Earlier, the Russian government allocated 3.5 bln rubles ($47,680,850) for partial reimbursement of tour operators' costs related to the pandemic.
