Rosa Khutor Fan Fest to Celebrate 8th Anniversary of Sochi Olympics

The festival dedicated to the 8th anniversary of the XXII Olympic and XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi will be held at the Rosa Khutor resort from February 4 to February 20, during the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

Rosa Khutor is a remarkable example of Sochi's effective Olympic heritage. It was on the slopes of the resort, where 30 sets of Olympic medals in 15 sports disciplines (alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle), almost one-third of the total number of sets of medals (98) as well as 32 of 76 sets of Paralympic medals were competed for in February 2014. For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, all the competitions in alpine skiing, freestyle, and snowboarding were held in one place.

Rosa Khutor continues to host major Russian and international competitions, including the Russian leg of the FIS World Cup in women's alpine skiing, in the post-Olympic period. The world's strongest female skiers met at the resort for the super-G event.

“We have long wanted to hold a large-scale event in honor of our Olympic past,” said Rosa Khutor CEO Alexander Belokobylsky. “This season we offer our guests to immerse themselves into the atmosphere of big sports again. Rosa Khutor Fan Fest will be held simultaneously with Beijing Olympic Games, and everyone will watch live broadcasts of the main starts on the resort's screens. Guests of the resort will have an opportunity to not only support Russian athletes, but also take part in sports competitions, show programs, and quizzes.”

Rosa Khutor Fan Fest will begin with the broadcasting of the official opening ceremony of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, which will be shown on February 4 on the main screen of the resort's central square in Rosa Valley. Then there will be interactive entertainment programs, ‘History of the Winter Olympics’ and ‘Hurray for the Olympics.’

Nikolay Fomenko, the supervisor of Rosa Khutor, a well-known actor and musician, has also decided to support Rosa Khutor Fan Fest. “I am glad to take part in such a grand marathon of events and various activities which Rosa Khutor has invented to honor the Olympic Games,” he said. “I believe that it is a great way to not only remember the taste of glorious victories gained on these slopes but also to show that there is still the energy of a true sports holiday here. We are committed to the Olympic ideals of friendship, excellence, and respect. These values are of great value for the resort, welcoming guests year after year in every season.”

During the entire Rosa Khutor Fan Fest, from February 4 to 20, the resort will be broadcasting the XXIV Olympic Winter Games competitions. Its main venues will be Rosa Valley and the Mountain Olympic Village. Each day of the festival will be dedicated to a certain event, for example, Day of Olympic energy on February 5, Day of Olympic dignity on February 6, Day of the Olympic spirit on 7 February, etc. The events scheduled for these days will be dedicated to the relevant themes. There will be different sports, music, dance show programs, and intellectual tournaments. Flash mobs will be carried out in support of Russian athletes.

Detailed Rosa Khutor Fan Fest program is available on the resort website as well as on its official accounts on social media.
