Rosa Khutor Announces New Winter Season Opening Date

Rosa Khutor , an alpine ski resort in the Western Caucasus is planning to open a new winter season on December 17. The exact date will depend on weather conditions, especially on a stable snow cover.

The start of the winter season 2021/2022 is scheduled for 17 December

Some improvements to the skiing area have been made in anticipation of the season. The Triton, Horizont, and Javor ski slopes will become more convenient. A new transfer hub will be built in the place of dismantled tunnel between the Volchya Skala, Kavkazsky Express, and Zapovedniy Les ropeways for better comfort and connectivity.

The resort’s management will expand the skiing area on the most popular and picturesque southern slope by an additional 2.6 km, where a new track of medium-level difficulty with picturesque views has been laid at an altitude of more than 1,970 meters above sea level. A belt conveyor with a 150-meter long gallery, manufactured by the French-Italian LST company, will also be installed here. Another “magic carpet” of 113m in length will appear at Rosa Stadium where a new training slope for children will be opened in the Finish area. Thus, guests of the resort will be able to enjoy more than 104 km of ski runs that make up the largest skiing area in Russia, and use 32 modern lifts.

In the upcoming winter season, Rosa Khutor will offer not only recreational opportunities on mountain slopes but also exciting après-ski activities featuring rodelbahn equipped with bright illumination, tubing, high-mountain swings, and bridges, including the one made of glass. Starting from December 1, a family skating rink will be operating in the Ice Palace. Holidaymakers will also get a chance to go tobogganing, take a dog sled ride or cycling tours of the surroundings and much more during the season. In cooperation with an industrial company, the resort offers spectacular helicopter rides with an overview of the most beautiful parts of the Caucasian Nature Reserve.

During the season, the resort will host several large-scale sporting and musical events. “According to a tradition, the new ski season will open on Rosa Khutor Day,” said Rosa Khutor Resort CEO Alexander Belokobylsky. “Then Christmas and New Year holidays will begin, during which our guests will not be bored. Ded Moroz’s residence will be open in the Mountain Olympic Village. Spectacular descent of instructors with torches and magic and thematic 3-D shows on the main square of the resort is also on the program. As always, we will make every effort to ensure the right festive mood under the current conditions, while observing all epidemiological measures.”

The resort is expected to host the FWQ (Freeride World Qualifier.) from 18 to 20 February as part of the international FWT (Freeride World Tour) 3* competition. Tinkoff Rosafest will open the winter festival program as usual from 28 January to 6 February.
