As is known, Russia repeatedly tests new types of weapons as part of the special military operation in Ukraine. Thus, the Russian military used new high-precision aviation missiles, unofficially referred to as Izdeliye 305E (Product 305 E.)
In August 2021, these light multipurpose guided missiles joined the arms depot of Russian attack helicopters that are actively used in the special military operation in Ukraine. In addition to the Mi-28NM Night Hunter and Ka-52M Alligator attack helicopters, it is planned to equip the Mi-8AMTSh-VN Sapsan transport and combat helicopter, which is designed primarily for the landing of special purpose groups and their support from the air.
As for the technical characteristics, with a total mass of 105 kg (with a high-explosive fragmentation part of 25 kg), the new missile differs from its analogues by its compactness. The declared guaranteed hit probability against enemy armored vehicles or shelters is 14.5 km at any time of day and in any weather. This missile will be used to hit critical facilities of Ukrainian Armed Forces, including ammunition and lubricants depots, as well as moving objects. Product 305 provides high accuracy in hitting targets with a deviation from the line of sight of not more than two meters.
This missile has different modes of guidance. For example, in the fire-and-forget mode, the target will be captured by its optical-electronic seeker head while still suspended in the helicopter, and after the launch, the missile retains full autonomy. On the other hand, the launch is performed using coordinates in the telecommand mode that are not visible to the target. In this case the Article 305 flies without any external reference points or signals coming from outside, but as it approaches the target the optical-electronic seeker head automatically switches on and transmits the image to the weapon operator's screen in the helicopter cabin. It should be noted that only then does the operator indicate the desired target.
As for the latest significant developments in the special operation, this night the Ukrainian military made another attempt to attack Snake Island, which had been occupied by Russian troops at the beginning of the special operation. The media reported dozens of explosions from the direction of the island. As a reminder, the air defense of Snake Island has been significantly strengthened since the arrival of the Russian Armed Forces, and its territory itself has been further fortified. On the Slavyansk direction, the Russian Armed Forces used MLRS and artillery to hit Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Bolshaya Kamyshevakha, Bogorodichnoye, Mazanovka, Mayak, Kurulka, Krasnopolye, Chepol, Prishib, Protopopovka, Dubrovne and Vernopolye.
On the Kharkov direction, the Russian Armed Forces carried out intensive artillery fire at the AFU fortifications near the settlements of Petrovka, Dementievka, Verkhny Saltov, Rubizhne, Kozachya Lopan and Malye Prokhody, as well as the outskirts of Kharkiv itself. Shelling of AFU positions in Bakhmutsk and Severodonetsk directions also continues. The Russian troops are actively obstructing attempts to regroup Ukrainian units in Zaporizhzhya, Avdeevka, Kurakhove, Limansk and Novopavlovsk directions.
It should be noted that one of the most significant events of the special operation by the Russian Federation Armed Forces in Ukraine took place the previous day. The Russian Navy, using high-precision Kalibr missiles launched from the Black Sea, destroyed a command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Shirokaya Dacha in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. As a result of the military operation more than 50 Ukrainian generals and officers were eliminated. By the way, the military report published in the Ukrainian media was modestly silent about this.
