Political analyst Bashirov came up with a thorough expert assessment on Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin's speech during a videoconference with Vladimir Putin.
Marat Bashirov, a popular Russian political analyst commented on some minor details of a recent speech by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. He noted that Sobyanin almost “derailed himself” delivering a bombshell on extension of the lockdown regulations.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin officially announced he was prolonging his stay-at-home order in Moscow through May 13. Sobyanin's speech at a videoconference with President Vladimir Putin became a subject of Bashirov’s rigorous expert assessment. According to him, Sobyanin looked unwell at the conference. He noted that Sobyanin noticeably lost weight during the pandemic and looked nervous, as could be seen from his finger movements.
“Sobyanin basically derailed himself by announcing that the lockdown would be extended in the city,” Marat Bashirov wrote in his Telegram-channel, adding that Sobyanin “was forced to make that decision.”
Bashirov also stressed that most of the participants in the videoconference with Putin did not look any better than their Moscow counterpart. Alexander Beglov and Andrey Chibis, the governors of St. Petersburg and the Murmansk region, were the only exceptions there.
