RNG is a federal partner of the International Children and Youth Project. Funds for the event have been allocated by the company’s management. The joint action of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) and the Football Union of Russia (FUR) in support of the International Children and Youth Prize ‘Ecology is everyone's business’ was dedicated to the Day of Lake Baikal.
The young players with their coaches, parents and friends cleaned up the territories in 73 Russian cities, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, for six days. The event took place in Yakutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Makhachkala, and Podolsk. 1,500 athletes, including the famous soccer player Aleksey Smertin, who played for the Russian national team and was its captain, took part in the environmental event.
“Sport plays an important role in everyone's life, because it is a healthy lifestyle above all. Our award is also about health. We inculcate the habit to attend to environment in children. Soccer is one of the most beloved folk games, which unites like-minded people all over the world. So is our environmental award. The task is to make our planet cleaner, so that we could leave it healthy for future generations,” said the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova.
The Ecology is Everyone's Business International Children's and Youth Award was established by the Rosprirodnadzor watchdog agency in March last year. Children and teenagers from 6 to 17 years old can participate in the prize. Creative works are accepted in 9 nominations. Two of them, Ecofamily and Eco-school, are team ones. Seven are individual: Ecomir, Eco-project, Eco-blogger, Eco-drawing, Eco-focus, Eco-cartoon, and ESG-generation.
At this moment, a record number of applications (over 25,000) have been sent from all regions of Russia and from over 20 countries around the world. The results of the contest are to be announced in November.
