The Army-2022 International Military-Technical Forum (IMTF), which was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobiev on August 15, was held in the Patriot park, located in the Moscow Region.

Forum events were carried out at the Patriot Park that is themed around equipment of the Russian military at the Kubinka military airfield, the Alabino tank range and another 35 sites of military districts, the Northern Fleet, in fact, in more than 30 regions of Russia.

Official military delegations from 85 countries attended the IMTF, and 18 states sent representatives of the highest level. The total number of representatives of foreign military agencies amounted to more than 700 people, and in total the Army-2022 forum was visited by 1,903,536 people.

This year, 340 events have been held within the framework of the IMTF, which is one and a half times more than last year, including 52 conferences, 187 round tables, 32 interdepartmental meetings and 69 briefings. In total, 22,000 people took part in the business program.

It is noteworthy that during this event the Defense Ministry concluded 36 state contracts with 24 enterprises of the military-industrial complex amounting to more than 525 billion rubles ($8.78 bln.) As a result of these contracts, the Russian Armed Forces will receive more than 3,700 new models of equipment. In addition, more than 100 units of special and military equipment will be deeply modernized and repaired.

According to Rosoboronexport CEO Aleksandr Mikheyev, the agency held more than 70 talks to discuss military and technical cooperation with representatives of 30 partner countries. Mikheyev noted that several important export contracts were concluded and documents were prepared for signing contracts worth more than $14.5 billion.

For the first time, the visitors of the forum saw a cruise missile for the 5th generation X-69 fighters, the body shape of which has a square cross-section. The mass of the missile is 710 kg, the mass of the warhead is 310 kg, and the speed is up to 1,000 km/hour. This missile has a combined control and navigation system, and the deviation from the target at a range of 290 km does not exceed 5 meters.

Much attention at the IMTF was paid to robotics. In particular, the forum showcased Sinitsa, the robotized crewless BMP-3, the Prometheus robot watch, the Armata remotely controlled tank, the new SV-21 rifle, silent torpedoes and many others.

The Sprut-SDM-1 floating light tank with a complex of dynamic protection caused much interest. It is the most powerful tank of this type in the world. Two versions of the Terminator fighting vehicle were presented at Army-2022 – an export one, as well as the one involved in a special military operation in Ukraine. The Rubin Central Design Bureau for the first time presented a concept design of a promising nuclear-powered submarine designed for operations in the Arctic.

Over the years, the IMTF has strengthened its status as a reputable international congress and exhibition platform, where specialists in the military-technical sphere interact and demonstrate achievements of Russian and foreign manufacturers of military products.

It should be noted that even in the face of enormous sanctions pressure, there is interest in Russian military hardware abroad. The large-scale international representation is evidence of the failure of the West's policy of isolating Russia.

Meanwhile, there was another important and significant event that took place in our country. The Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation was celebrated on August 20.

Russia owes the official introduction of the white, blue and red banner to Peter I. In 1705, the flag appeared on merchant ships, but as the main state symbol it was used black-yellow-white - in the colors of the empire. Only on the eve of the coronation of Nicholas II in 1896 the tricolor, which we know, replaced the black-yellow-white flag. Red color meant sovereignty, blue the Virgin Mary, under whose veil Russia is, and white meant independence and freedom. However, according to the unofficial version, the red color stands for courage, bravery, generosity and blood spilled for the Motherland, blue stands for honesty and loyalty, and white symbolizes nobility and purity.

However, soon the power in Russia changed, and for more than 70 years the red banner with yellow sickle and hammer became the national flag. August 22, 1991 our historical tricolor was restored as a national symbol. The Day of the Russian State Flag is an important holiday for our country because the flag is the embodiment of the Russian statehood and is a symbol of its sovereignty. This flag is our past, present and future.
